This 5-day adventure brings you into two extraordinary worlds of East Kalimantan, where ancient rainforest traditions meet crystal-clear tropical seas. The journey begins in the remote Merabu Village, where ancient forests, sacred caves, and community traditions remain beautifully preserved. Guided by local villagers, you will trek through the Merabu Forest Conservation Area, discover hidden caves, tranquil lakes, and panoramic viewpoints while staying overnight in a traditional village setting that offers an authentic glimpse into local life.

From the lush interior, the journey continues to the legendary Derawan Archipelago, one of Indonesia’s finest marine destinations. Crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral gardens, and unique natural wonders await as you explore Derawan, Maratua, Kakaban, and Sangalaki Islands. Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival Day in Berau, East kalimantan

Upon arrival in Jakarta or Surabaya, continue your journey with a domestic flight to Kalimarau Airport, East Kalimantan. Upon landing, you will be warmly welcomed by your local guide and transferred by road to the remote Merabu Village, nestled deep within the forested highlands. Upon arrival, the local Dayak Lebo community will greet you with a traditional welcome, offering a genuine introduction to village life and local hospitality. Check in to your village accommodation and take time to settle into the peaceful surroundings. In the evening, enjoy a traditional village dinner prepared with local ingredients, providing your first taste of authentic Dayak cuisine. Overnight at the village, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Meals included: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2 - Full-Day Jungle Expedition in Merabu Forest

 

After breakfast at the village, set out on a full-day jungle expedition into the Merabu Forest Conservation Area, guided by knowledgeable local guides who share insights into the forest’s ecology and traditional uses. Begin with a morning trek through dense rainforest trails leading to Bloyot Cave, a natural limestone cave hidden within the forest. Continue onward to the tranquil Nyadeng Lake, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by untouched nature. In the afternoon, the trek continues to Ketepu Peak, offering panoramic views over the vast forest landscape.

After completing the trek, return to Merabu Village to relax and refresh. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the village, followed by free time to unwind or experience the peaceful rhythm of village life. Overnight at the village.

Day 3 - From Merabu Village to Derawan Island

After breakfast at the village, check out from your accommodation and bid farewell to Merabu Village. Begin the overland journey to Tanjung Batu Port, passing through scenic landscapes en route. Upon arrival at the port, board a speedboat for a crossing to Derawan Island, where turquoise waters and white-sand beaches welcome you. Check in to your island lodge and take time to relax after the journey.

In the evening, enjoy dinner at the lodge followed by a trip briefing to prepare for the next day’s island-hopping adventure. The rest of the evening is free for you to unwind and enjoy the island atmosphere. Overnight on Derawan Island.

Day 4 - Full Day Trip to Explore Derawan Island

After breakfast, prepare for an exciting full-day island-hopping adventure across the highlights of the Derawan Archipelago. Travel by speedboat to explore some of Indonesia’s most spectacular marine destinations. Begin the day at Maratua Island, known for its dramatic limestone landscapes and crystal-clear waters. Continue to Goa Haji Mangku, a stunning sea cave where you can swim inside the cave or enjoy an optional cliff-jumping experience for the adventurous.

 

Next, explore the Kakaban Trench, a renowned snorkeling site with vibrant coral formations and diverse marine life. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to the unique Kakaban Lake, where you can snorkel alongside thousands of harmless jellyfish in this rare natural ecosystem. The journey continues to colorful coral gardens, offering excellent snorkeling conditions, followed by a visit to Sangalaki Island, a protected turtle conservation area. End the day at Manta Point, where you may encounter majestic manta rays gliding through the waters.

Return to Derawan Island in the late afternoon. Dinner will be served at the lodge, and the evening is free for you to relax and enjoy the island ambiance.

Day 5 - Departure from Derawan Island

After breakfast at the lodge, prepare for check-out and say goodbye to the tranquil atmosphere of Derawan Island. Transfer by speedboat back to Tanjung Batu Port, followed by an overland journey to Kalimarau Airport.

If time permits, an optional stop for lunch at a local restaurant can be arranged along the way. Your journey concludes upon arrival at the airport, marking the end of an unforgettable adventure through East Kalimantan’s rainforests and island paradise.

Terms & Conditions

  1.  Deposit & Booking Confirmation:
    • A minimum deposit of 10% of the total tour price is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. 
    • Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit payment is received and acknowledged by us.
    • If the deposit is not received by the due date indicated in the invoice, we reserve the right to cancel your booking without notice.
  2. Balance Payment:
    The remaining balance is payable upon arrival and must be settled in full before the tour begins.
  3. Cancellation & Refund Policy: 
    Refunds are processed based on the cancellation date relative to the departure date. Cancellation fees increase as the departure date approaches due to confirmed third-party services.
    • ≥ 30 days before departure
    A refund will be free. 
    • Cancellations made less than 30 days before departure (after flight booking)
    A 10% charge from total amount for administration and reservation fee.
    • Less than 7 days before departure / No-show
    No refund will be provided; the full amount will be charged.
  4. Cancellation by the Company
    If the tour is cancelled by us due to operational reasons, extreme weather conditions, or circumstances beyond our control (force majeure), guests will be entitled to one of the following options:
    • 100% refund of all payment
    • Rescheduling the trip or receiving a travel voucher, subject to mutual agreement.
  5. Refund Process: 
    • Refunds will be processed within 7–30 business days after the cancellation has been confirmed.
    • Any bank transfer fees or third-party charges, if applicable, will be deducted from the refund amount.
  6. We are not responsible for any expenses incurred outside the tour package, including but not limited to separately purchased flights, visas, and travel insurance.

Yes, travel date changes may be requested subject to availability and must be made in writing. Date changes are generally allowed if requested at least 14 days before departure.

• Date changes requested less than 14 days before departure may be treated as a cancellation and will follow the applicable cancellation policy.
